AI content operationsExtending the value of content with AI
How Black Duck shortened a content production cycle from 6–8 weeks to three weeks while retaining editorial and subject matter review.
Company: Black Duck
Focus: AI content operations, content repurposing, editorial quality
My role: Introduced AI-assisted workflows, configured source material and brand voice, and guided the team’s implementation
Platform: Writer AI
The challenge
Webinars bring together expertise, preparation, and valuable ideas. Extending those ideas into blogs and promotional content helps a company reach people beyond the original audience—but producing that material takes time.
At Black Duck, a comparable package of assets and blogs typically took six to eight weeks to create. We needed a more efficient way to adapt source content across channels while maintaining technical accuracy, consistent messaging, and a recognizable voice.
Building context into the workflow
I introduced AI-assisted workflows that gave the team a stronger starting point for drafting and repurposing.
Using Writer AI, we combined webinar transcripts with internal messaging documents and our editorial style guide in the tool’s knowledge graph. I also configured our brand voice as the default for output.
That context helped the tool produce first drafts grounded in the source material and closer to our editorial expectations. The team could spend more time developing and refining the content, with less effort needed to correct its direction or voice.
From webinar to campaign content
For the Mythos campaign, the team used Writer to analyze a webinar transcript, identify its key messages, and develop a blog post. We then adapted the blog into several social posts.
The published article, How to Get Mythos-Ready: Find, Prioritize, and Fix Risk Faster, gave the webinar’s ideas another format and another route to an audience. A short video excerpt extended the webinar’s reach further.
Each format served a different purpose while carrying a consistent message: the webinar provided depth, the article organized the ideas for readers, and the shorter assets created additional opportunities to discover and engage with the subject.
Keeping expertise in the process
Editorial review remained part of the workflow.
The subject matter expert who hosted the webinar and carried the article’s byline reviewed the blog to confirm its accuracy and ensure the messaging remained consistent. That review helped preserve the meaning and nuance of the original discussion as it moved into a different format.
Every blog and social post was proofread before publication. AI supported analysis and drafting; people remained responsible for the final work.
The result
We created the package in three weeks, compared with six to eight weeks for comparable work previously—a reduction of approximately 50–63% in elapsed production time.
The workflow gave the team a practical way to extend the value of expert-led content without starting each asset from scratch. High-quality first drafts supported faster development of promotional materials, while editorial and subject matter review maintained oversight.
Bringing content to market sooner also allowed us to begin measuring performance across channels earlier and use those insights in subsequent planning.
Applying the approach elsewhere
The experience informed additional work, including Black Duck’s Cyber Resilience Act readiness campaign.
We applied the approach to a broader mix of formats: SEO content addressing compliance timelines, vulnerability reporting, and security testing; a compliance checklist ebook; and a guide to software supply chain regulations.
This demonstrated how the workflow could support both timely campaign content and resources addressing ongoing audience needs.
